2nd EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP OF AKHALTEKE HORSES, 27.-28.9.2008, GERMANY

Here you can find complete results.

In 27.-28.9.2008 took place 2nd European Championship of Akhal Teke horses at a beautiful location of Gut Ising nearby Chiemsee lake (Germany). Organisator was German Akhal Teke Association ( Achal Tekkiner Züchter und Freunde e.V.).

We decided to take there our bred two years old filly Jana-Jan (Mingam-Davenda), so we could compare our product with other breeders in Europe.

We left our farm on Friday morning and the journey was OK. Jana-Jan behaved really proffessionally, despite the fact it was her first trip. The roads in Czech Republic were not so good (many roads in repair), but through Austria and Germany it was OK and fast. We arrived to Gut Ising after 7 hours of travelling as one of the first participants. We accomodated Jana-Jan in the stables just under the riding-hall (really in the underground :-). We were very positively surprised as she was calm, not afraid of anything, ignored all strange sounds, unknown horses. She was only interested in us and our company - real true Teke lady.

During Friday afternoon arrived other participants - according to catalogue, there were entered 92 horses totally, who represented Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Czech Republic, Slovakia and also Kazakhstan. Unfortunately last two mentioned finally didn´t come - we were especially sorry for Kazakhstan horses, as according pedigrees in catalogue their collection promised interesting horses. Later in the afternoon were jumping and dressage trainings in the riding hall, where we also took Jana-Jan for a while to familiarize with the background.

Saturday´s programme started at 9:00 with Cross Country and Country Trail competitions. Complete results you can see here. At 11:00 officially begun the Championship with opening speech of Bavarian Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Mr. Josef Miller. Then he gave the word to President of German Association, Mr. Bauhofer and to Mrs. Tatyana Ryabova, the main registrator of the Akhal Teke studbook and president of Russian AT Association.

After that started breeding classes. The judges were: Tatyana Ryabova (Russia), Khamal Mirkhodzhaev (Uzbekistan) and Wolfgang Kühn (Germany). Horses were shown in the breeding triangle, firstly at zootechnical stand, than in a walk and trot. Judged criteria were type, conformation, fundament, movement in a walk and trot and overall impression. Each horse was shown separately and then all class together for better comparison. All horses who placed first or second in their class, were qualified for the final.

First class was the category of foals (colts and fillies together), which was won by dark buckskin Kazskay d´Akhal bred by Heloise Ghirardi (France), owner by Mr. and Mrs. Tissot (France).

Second class was ours - one and two years old fillies with six participants. The winner became our lady, Jana-Jan. It seemed that she liked a lot to show herself in front of audience (I suppose that these are genes after her sire :-). Second became filly Mar Geli, in the ownership of Mrs. Jakob (Germany), bred by N.Shabashova (Russia). Third was filly Malawi (last year best foal from Solms show) bred and owned by Mrs. Sabine Töpfer-Gebert. Fourth became Michele van Kasteren Altaia vK, fifth Meretgul (bred by Akhalt-Service, Russia, owner by Mrs. Jakob, Germany) and sixth Oglan´s daughter Esma, bred and owned by Mrs. Töpfer-Gebert.

Other classes followed - one and two years old stallions won Gagar Khan (Gagur-Gumsara), owned by Mrs. Jakob, bred by Studfarm Yulduz, Russia. Second behind him finished very nice yearling boy Djuk (Dendon-Regata), bred and owned by Mr. Bauhofer.

Class of three and fourth years old fillies and mares was won by Töpfer-Gebert dark bay Miramichi, inbred II x II on excellent stallion Kara Burgut. Second placed was her halfsister Gürsatay, owned by Jörg Maier.

In the class of three and fourth years old stallions participated only three colts - the winner became Sheitan Shael, bred by Shael Studfarm, Russia, in the ownership (lease) of Dalida Akhal CZ, CZech Republic. The second was Absar, bred by A.Fard (Czech Republic), in the ownership of Dalida Akhal CZ.

Twelve participants were in the class of five years and older mares. First placed was Kir Sakar line mare Merkhaba, bred by N.Valerio (Switzerland), owned by B.Illauer (Germany). Second place got Marahuti of Mrs. Töpfer-Gebert.

Last class was the category of five years and older stallions with twelve breeding stallions. The winner became dark bay stallion Askari, bred and owned by Mrs. Töpfer-Gebert. The second placed another Kara Burgut´s son, Melok, bred by Töpfer-Gebert, in the ownership of Mr. Rössler.

After that the championship continued with special classes as family collections and combined ride-and-show class.

The last event of Saturday´s programme was the final of breeding classes. As total champion of the show was elected two years old colt Gagar-Khan of Mrs. Jakob.

On Saturday´s evening took place Gala Abend. We celebrated there our victory, spoke with our old Teke friends and around midnight we retired to rest.

On Sunday were planned sporting competitions (dressage and show jumping). We saw only first two dressage competitions of A and L level and had to go home. Jana-Jan was once more proffessional, no problems with loading, no problems during travelling. The journey home was little bit faster, we arrived around 17:00 on our farm. And with European Champion among one and two years old fillies :-).

Big thanks to organisators of Championship, big thanks to Mrs. Magalow for great accommodation and service and special thanks to our Jan, who took care of horses and farm during our trip.
